Our ban on plastic bags and our oceans are at risk.
Plastic bags pollute our ocean and beaches and kill thousands of sea turtles every year. That’s why CALPIRG helped make California the first state in the country to ban plastic grocery bags.
But big plastic companies have spent $3 million to put a question on the November 2016 ballot to repeal our plastic bag ban. And they will spend millions more to mislead and confuse the public.
So we’re running a campaign to save our ban on plastic bags. And we need your help.
We won’t be able to outspend the plastic companies, but we can win if we have the resources to educate people on and off campus, hold big events to raise awareness and get the issue in the news and social media.
The best way to help is to pledge CALPIRG. The thing that makes CALPIRG effective is that tens thousands of UC students pledge $5-$10 a term on their tuition bill to fund our campaigns. And we need more people to pledge now than ever before so we have the resources it takes to win.
Find us on campus this week to pledge CALPIRG.
